Minimalist Photography

A few years ago, a friend introduced me to photography. We often went into nature and took photos of the leaves, mountains, trees, and of each other. In the time following, I developed an eye for photography and have gotten the privilege to take pictures for various clothing brands, clubs, and weddings.

However, I didn't develop a style of photography until I visited a concentration camp in Germany in the summer of 2019. (I was in Berlin to serve at refugee camps and do other volunteer work) I took a tour at the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Memorial during one of the touring days, and my perspective on photography completely changed.

We were allowed to take photos at this camp, but in doing so, I realized that photography in this place wasn't about making the photos look saturated and edgy -- I instead wanted the location to tell its own story. After looking at these photos, I realized this idea can apply to any space. Taking seemingly mundane images began to interest me, and so now I continue to click my camera and let the images tell themselves.

Below are some of the photos from the camp.
